Power is KING, Strength is the Prince!
Blunt and to the point! If you do NOT train power, keep power, improve power as you age, this is the #1 reason for fragility, falls. Yes, STRENGTH is critically important but POWER is what limits us.
We stop jumping, we stop sprinting, we stop moving our body fast as we age. The LAZY MESSAGE in society and from medical professionals is “just do low impact”. This message is LAZY! It’s uneducated and it’s causing more fragility in society especially women. Women will accept this message, they think it’s safe. They are scared of muscle and they are afraid to get hurt.
IT IS CAUSING YOUR DECLINE! It is causing your fragility as you age. PERIOD.
If all you do is low impact options you are severely causing your own decline.
(I realize there are specific populations that are limited due to a severe injury, immune compromised etc. I am not speaking to those individuals)
I am speaking to the majority of the population who believes the fluff and misinformation being spewed.
Training for power allows you to react and create force faster. This allows you to react/catch yourself if you trip. This allows you to move fast when “fight or flight” happens, if you have to move from a falling object. If you have to catch a falling object. Training for power keeps fast twitch muscle fibers, it keeps brain health, it keeps your quality of life HIGH. Stop being afraid and find what works for you at your level of conditioning you’re at now.
